Finder is meant to help you find weapons while playing, and transfer them your character. That might be a specific weapon, or a type of weapon while working on bounties or quests (e.g. "i just need a solar primary" or "any arc hand cannon").
Finder is not a substitute for a general-purpose vault management tool. For example if you just popped a season's worth of IB engrams on Pressurized Precision rolls and you want to winnow them down, I suggest the amazing Destiny Item Manager for that.
There are a handful of (what I hope) are neat little features, like if a Masterwork catalyst is incomplete, it will show you the remaining progress.
